Remembering the 4th of July on the 8th

We gathered for a happy, relaxed time together.

The lanterns and bunting were hung in place.

The vintage mid-century bottle opener was also invited to the party. It was tied onto the drink tub with a festive ribbon.

Several croquet games ensued. There were some very impressive wicked wicket shots and who knew croquet could become a contact sport!

And of course there were plenty of frozen red, white and blue daiquiris.

I thank my lucky stars (and stripes) for such loving, giving and wonderful women in our lives.

There was even reason to celebrate in the garden. As they say, corn should be “knee high by the 4th of July.”

The night before we were busy making 4 types of ice cream. Pistachio, peach, vanilla and to honor Pop whose memorial service was on the 1st, his famous pineapple sherbet. It’s unforgettable. Like him. :)

Hope you had a star-spangled day!

How fun! I love the frozen red white and blue margaritas and playing croquet takes me back to a wonderful time of being younger and getting together with family and friends and playing croquet, looks like a fun gathering where everyone looked like they were having a marvelous time!

Wow, your party looks gorgeous. And with the smiles on everyone's face, it looks like it was a great celebration.

we were all together and that's what matters most! Mother Nature rained on our parade a bit, so the tennis tourney didn't happen, but the evening out at the fireworks did. My sweet now toddler Carter loved the light show, and new baby Nathan slept through the whole thing!

I love your decor. Lanterns are my favorite. But I have to ask - the woman in the chair next to the two handsome men, is that you? For some reason I am not sure. And is that your eldest son? Anyway, wonderful crew, and I am glad you all had a good time and hope it washed away some of the accident memories.

LPC- The woman in the photo with the two men is my sister-in-law. She is leaning against my brother. Their son is with them. As usual I was so busy being the hostess I didn't get nearly enough pics as I would've liked to. I didn't capture many people and not even my own nuclear family! My eldest was in Chicago doing research so he missed the party this year. I still have the lanterns up. I need to take them down but they are so magical at night. Is there anything prettier on a warm summer night?
